The 1.0 launch will deliver a completely overhauled Adventure Mode, giving you a choice of temples to explore, each with a specific whip, relic, and series of challenges to overcome. Phantom Abyss is a massive asynchronous multiplayer game that casts players into procedurally-generated temples and tasks them with retrieving the sacred relics hidden within deadly chambers. Intrepid adventurers will dodge scores of hidden traps, leap treacherous chasms, and flee relentless guardians through branching paths until one of the relics are claimed or the devices of death overwhelm them. Be warned, you only get one attempt at each temple and failure or settling for a lesser relic means you will never see that temple again... The cleverest players will use the phantom runs of failed attempts from other players to their advantage and avoid the missteps and mistakes that led to their doom. Asynchronous Multiplayer Explore the perilous halls and colossal rooms of each temple alongside the phantoms of fallen players that came before you.

HOLY how have I not gotten a full run yet T_T In Phantom Abyss, you compete with other players around the world to steal an idol from a temple filled with tough jumps, booby traps, and hidden keys. This randomised floating mongrel teleports from room to room, shooting lasers or dropping bombs that slow the player down. The problem with this harassment enemy is that because you’re the only ‘real’ player in your run, it only seems to want to shoot at you rather than the many ghost players pinwheeling about you.

I understand that is due to the servers being reset but perhaps Phantom Abyss Speedrun a forced progression reset wasn't the best idea.

Speedhackers already? I may be out of the loop, but I occasionally see phantoms that run at 2x or 3x the speed of a regular person, and depending on what type of whip I'm running, that takes steam out of my sails.

The devs should have added a few default phantoms that start with you, even in a temple that no other player has visited before, just to at least give the illusion that the phantom gimmick is working, and maybe makes the player feel a sense of danger as more and more of these phantoms die off.
